The more we find out about our senses the more we start to understand a complex relationship between all aspects of our health and body.
Hearing is related to many other health issues one may be dealing with. People with hearing loss are more likely to get dementia. People with untreated hearing loss are more likely to have their brain atrophy. People with untreated hearing loss are more likely to acquire auditory depravation or phonemic regression.
What many people do not understand is that there is more to hearing than just hearing. Well, that doesn’t make sense. Of course, it does. Not only do you have to hear, but your brain has to interpret the sounds that it hears. If I stand on a corner in China, I can hear just fine. But, I’ll have no idea what anyone is saying. Does this mean I have a hearing loss? No, it means my brain is unable to interpret or process what I am hearing.
If I have a hearing loss and my brain is getting incorrect signals and this situation goes on uncorrected, my brain may loose it’s ability to interpret sound properly. If a person waits too long for help or if the loss is too severe; a person can have permanent irreversible processing problems. What that means is that the earlier someone gets help the better the results will be in terms of loss of brain function in regard to auditory depravation or phenomic regression. So, yes, it is true the earlier one gets help the better.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to go to an independent hearing company like Lifestyle Hearing. As an independent dealer we are not limited to the choices we can provide our clients. We’ll find the brand and style that’s right for you. Non-independent dealers can only choose from a limited selection of products; sometimes they only deal with one brand. That’s just crazy. Come see Lifestyle Hearing where your hearing comes first and we are not beholden to any manufacturer!
